there’s lots of weirdos out there who hate on popular things just to be contrarian. she’s extremely popular, slightly political, and the biggest star in the world…people are going to have opinions. fans just need to not engage in that side of it. seeing stans get so defensive over strangers on the internet not liking their favorite billionaires record is bizarre.

she’s become the zeitgeist, and at that point everyone has an opinion. what’s weirder is how the stans can’t accept that and engage with the negative comments.

So many of these lyrics sound like they’re written by someone 18-22 years old. Kind of cringe for a 34yo to be writing some of these. Also, if you’re going to just continue in the synth pop lane, bring in a producer who can help take that to the next level, it’s sonically so one-note. The weird relationship she has about making sure people know who songs are about just comes off as a little petty and weird.

I feel like this answer is a bit of a cop out. Like, I see your point, I don't think you are wrong. But we are talking about Taylor Swift, an artist who is literally capitalizing on the fact that each of her albums has a distinct sound, aesthetic and subject matter through her Eras Tour. If anything, she is the one creating the expectation that she reinvents herself with every era and reinforcing that narrative. I think my initial point was a pretty reasonable and tame critique there's no need to get so defensive.

Loveeee that clip. Very excited for this record, love that it’s still just her and her brother working together, it keeps her sound unique compared to others that use a lot of the same writers/producers.

fantastic artist but theres nothing unique about her sound, it’s a lot of the Olivia sound. You can really hear Dan’s influence over her work. Id love to see more pop artists reinvent themselves, give us that Radiohead Bends to Kid A jump.

Never been a lyrics person on early listens so I can’t comment on that, but this sonic space is getting really stale to me

Because she is "mother," an actual cult leader in their eyes, and their lives revolve around doing everything they can to white knight and protect a literal billionaire lol "My heart breaks for Taylor. I'm so sorry baby we tried so hard" ... yikes.

Nothing grabbed me on first listen but it’s pleasant, her core fans will eat this up. It is about time for a reinvention though.

Coachella is very in the moment, but still curated rare and unique acts, little bit more emphasis on electronic music. Coachella consistently books the best multi genre U.S. lineup. Lolla is also very in the moment, little bit more commercial acts, less of the indie/rare sets you see at Coachella. It suffers from the amount of teenagers and it’s early curfew. Bonnaroo still has a little bit of roots in the jam band scene, the electronic skews a bit more bass heavy, tends to have more country/folk compared to the others. More of a varied lineup, from Fate Webster to Key Glock to Gwar in a couple hours.

I’m assuming the Gorillaz/Blur booking was connected in some way. The stream made it look like there were less than a couple thousand people there.

You have to think Gwen sees the tepid response her solo material has been getting the last few years and comparing that to some of the best press she’s ever gotten, out of last night. She looks so much more comfortable on stage with rest of No Doubt there.

This multi stage screen thing on YouTube is unbelievable. You can see 4 stages at a time and isolate the sound on one. Unbelievably cool.

I’m so excited to watch Justice and Lana on the livestream tonight. The new Justice production is supposed to be next level. I have a feeling this Lana set will be historic. She saw what happened to Frank last year and she’s gotta be determined to deliver a massive show.
