Yeah I'd say theres pretty distinguishable differences, especially with their range which dictates where to put them. It looks like a lot of their abilities hinge on their runes equipped which you unlock a lot more as the game progresses and will offer more variety. I've found my party building involving strategy for sure as far as roles.
