yeah I enjoyed They Live so much more this time around, easily one of Carpenter's best. the last line is absolutely insane lmao also watched The Fog today and man that movie. there's literally 2 minutes of plot and the rest is just vibes but goddamn the vibes are good. makes me want to buy a lighthouse in a coastal town

ok yeah this was a whiff for me as a big Predator freak lmao. potentially cool setup but the Marvel ass humour and the really obvious "we need a cute little guy" Mandalorian chasing completely derail it. Elle Fanning is great but barely in the last like 30 minutes despite playing two characters big step down from Prey and Killer of Killers unfortunately

watching They Live again, I like this so much more knowing it's an action satire instead of expecting a horror

I actually agree that Human Too is the weakest track on the album and the album would be better without it, but I don’t like this.

a bit late on this one but Pain is an amazing song. a ton of energy on that track, the way the first chorus leads into the second verse, the way it transitions into Drugs or Me, “Anyone can make what I have built”, “It’s a false sense of accomplishment every time I quit”, the bridge, it’s all wonderful. I’ve heard Futures a million times and I still feel flushed with excitement every time The World You Love ends and the click of the drums start up. It’s a perfect centerpiece to the album and one of my biggest motivators to learn about tracklisting/sequencing/album flow and pay attention to how other albums from other bands do it

Human too is one of their weakest songs, it’s not bad, just boring and kills the pace of the album. WHAT SHOULD I SAY IS TOP TIER

People are being really fucking weird about this on Reddit (not a huge surprise). As far as I'm concerned, it's their music so they can do what they want with it, for whatever reason. They shouldn't *have* to keep a song they don't love anymore up there just because they once released it. Plus the physical copies of the album will still exist, and fans will still make sure there are rips on YouTube or whatever. That said, What Should I Say is a fucking banger lol. Human Too is whatever.

Not sure if it’s already come up here, but fans found a UK tour date listed for next summer. (Maybe through the venue’s site?) Also, I thought it was widely accepted that Integrity Blues is the best “late period” Jimmy record. I have met people irl who share this sentiment. (Were they also big fans of the band? Yes. But are they on this site? No.) And it seemed to do pretty well commercially. I heard Sure and Certain at restaurant a couple weeks back amid a playlist of other vaguely alternative pop rock.

Salem's Lot is definitely my rec for people to start with King. relatively short but incredible worldbuilding and spooky as hell. I'm still mad my housemate I lent it to gave up after 100 pages I could also see @Aaron Mook vibing with The Only Good Indians and maybe some Clive Barker. Books of Blood is a great starter if you want some more short stories

With King, it may help to know that when he writes racism it often comes across as Tarantino-esque - that is, you get the sense that he quite enjoyed using certain words. That said, The Stand is excellent; that and IT are my two favorite King novels, but again, brace yourself for some pretty appalling stuff (e.g., that one scene in IT that you’d think I was lying if I spoiled it). Some of my favorite horror that comes to mind, although I'm not sure how good some these would be as audiobooks, nor do I know how much you'd actually like them: Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez - In my mind, this is a masterpiece: one of the best horror novels I've ever read, but be warned that it's long and can, at times, feel aimless. The Croning by Laird Barron - To me, this one is all about the vibes, and there are parts I still think about many years later. Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica - This one isn't for everyone, but it was very much for me. There is some animal abuse, however. The Cipher by Kathe Koja - Suffocating and gross - you'll want to shower after each chapter - but one of my all time favorites. Not always easy to tell what's going on - her prose can be pretty wild - but it's always terrifying. Some other good ones: The Fisherman by John Langan, Motherthing by Ainslie Hogarth, Negative Space by B.R. Yeager, Tell Me I'm Worthless by Alison Rumfitt.

I'm on a huge Stephen King kick right now so you can't really go wrong there, and there are multiple good starting points. Otherwise, see below for some horror books I have read recently over the past few years and have enjoyed to varying levels! Harvest Home by Tom Tryon The Troop by Nick Cutter My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix A God in the Shed by JF Dubeau The Hunger by Alma Katsu The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris The Indian Lake Trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

I would absolutely defer to @Rowan5215 for all things King but I have read a decent amount of his work. Salem's Lot would be a strong rec from me personally. I also just read the short story Jerusalem's Lot which acts as a prequel of sorts and it legit terrified me

IT is a big part of DT (mid)world building so makes sense. don't know how much I trust Muschietti with this stuff though honestly would rather he left it for Flanagan

I tried the first two episodes of this and was pretty underwhelmed, and I really went in hoping to like this. The move they pulled with the main characters was cool, and I was surprised at the level of gore, but Andy Muschietti's take on King is getting pretty tiresome by this point. Is he directing all of these? I think I was hoping for viscerally terrifying, and the "scary" scenes here are mostly just loud & fast & CGI, which is a well this dude loves to go back to. I'll probably try another episode or two to see where they're going with this

thought the mystery resolution was pretty eh but still a very entertaining season. they definitely stopped prioritising the plots and started putting the comedy first at a certain point with this show super happy to see Teddy and Theo again even if it was for half a minute
