I don’t check out goodwill/thrift stores often but I don’t feel like I’ve ever found good media there. I find good used stuff at Vintage Stock but it’s not usually much cheaper than new.

Check with the library. They might even lend out DVD players. If not, they're usually pretty plentiful at thrift stores.

they also have am offshoot called EntertainMART that's more focused on movies and music than Vintage Stock, and they've got a decent used Blu/4K selection. surprisingly lots of steelbooks too if that's anyone's thing. picked up the Criterion version of A Hard Day's Night from them for my dad a couple years back.

This is the 2nd time in like 8 years, so idk if that's good or bad. lol Luckily it's in RAID 5 or whatever, so I can replace it and rebuild it easily with a new drive. But my problem is I don't have money for a new drive. So now I've become a beggar to my friends that use my plex all the time.

Are the lyrics on this one just so obviously about Jeremy's long term relationship ending that we just didn't need to talk about it? Maybe I missed banter somewhere about album themes, but as someone walking away from 9 years this album physically hurts to listen to right now.

I'm back, it hurts better now! Really though, after 20+ years of being in this scene I'd be hard pressed to point out more than a few other bands with such a strong catalogue over such a stretch of time. Just really impressive to me given the genre, absolutely love this band.

I feel like Deafheaven are just such smart songwriters. It’s clear they’re aware black metal is really abrasive and exhausting when served straight up, so they toss in a little post rock, slip in some singing, tweak the tempos, add a little catchy lead, drop a random alternative rock riff, and ride dynamic waves both hushed and huge. There’s always something to latch on to. PS: I think the track sequencing on here is absolutely perfect too.

Trailers and ads are annoying but with reserved seating they're pretty easy to avoid. Short screening windows, IP hogging all the Dolby and IMAX screens and disruptive audience members are the real issue.
