I went to the Baltimore aquarium in like 2nd grade circa 1996. I still remember the rainforest exhibit being cool as hell. I'd love to go back some day.

Seems like that’s the place to be in Dallas. Unlike Nashville where the popular part of town is actually the part of town that sucks lol Broadway is worth seeing and if you have money to blow it’d be fun to get wasted there. But there is zero original music happening on Broadway despite 300 bands playing all at once, and that city is fucking totalitarian about paying for parking and towing. You must pay $150 to avoid paying $300, there’s literally no alternative, no mass transit, etc. Uber is best but even that costs 3x what it costs in most cities. My best experience in Nashville’s Broadway was when I walked through it and across a pedestrian bridge to get to the Titans stadium. Each time I’ve actually tried to go there for a few drinks has just been an annoying hassle. I expected it to be a bigass ripoff and just went for the spectacle / experience and each time, I levied my expectations. And it still ended up being frustrating as shit, all just to see country bands play (admittedly REALLY GOOD) 80s and 90s top 40 radio covers and look dead / robotic while they do it. East Nashville and West Nashville are excellent though and way better. And South Downtown if you’re fine with spending a bit more for food and drinks.

best two places for street art, from the admittedly small amount i've seen, is philly and san juan, puerto rico.

I agree with this. Not necessarily comparing Baltimore’s because I’ve never been, but I like Chattanooga’s aquarium more than Atlanta’s for this reason

Atlanta and Baltimore both have amazing graffiti though. Atlanta takes the cake just because it’s literally EVERYWHERE. Like, there is graffiti ART not just tags, under *every* bridge, on every wall that divides neighborhoods from highways and train tracks, on the side of SO many buildings. Between that and the dense canopy of trees / rich system of city parks Atlanta is a very beautiful city. The city actually sanctions and supports public art so there’s a lot of areas where it’s legal. Baltimore’s Station North neighborhood in particular does the same thing.

Bigger is not automatically better. I was disappointed in how Atlanta used all that space tbh. The layout of the Baltimore one makes it a much more indulgent experience. Atlanta’s Aquarium almost feels like a shopping mall lol and you can’t actually see most of the tank.

There’s also a huge spiral walkway that goes all the way down to the bottom of the biggest shark / fish tank so you get a full 360 view from the top to the bottom of it as you walk through. And there’s an Atrium (that triangular glass rooftop) that has a simulated humid rainforest in it with rare species of birds as well, so not even just fish lol

And yet Baltimore’s still has better exhibits, better flow to control the crowds, and better visibility

Even just the architecture of it is amazing. It’s one of the most distinctive buildings in the northeast.

One thing that’s different about Baltimore though? If you walk in your neighborhood bar and start watching the Orioles you’ll make friends with everyone in that bar lol. Baltimore is suuuuper neighborhoody and it’s very easy to get to know people. I haven’t had that experience anywhere else. Baltimore also has excellent museums, I haven’t seen Atlanta’s museums yet. Baltimore’s “National Aquarium” is actually better than Georgia’s Aquarium though

Baltimore indeed has excellent seafood but I might take that for granted a little bit, because most seafood is better and cheaper in my home state Florida unless you’re getting crab or mussels. You can’t really compete seafood with a state that has water on all sides and is half the cost to run a business in than Maryland is. Atlanta is the heart of soul food and it’s actually amazing how even hole in the wall restaurants / diners know how to make fuckin PERFECT fried chicken. There are hundreds of places in Atlanta that you can get some of the best southern food you’ve ever had for less than $15. Not recommended if you’re watching your weight though lol

I love both and lived right next to downtown in both cities... but personally don’t think Atlanta and Baltimore have similar charm haha. Only thing similar about them is both cities having a strong sense of black culture, which is great. Baltimore is very dense and most of the beauty of the city is the fact that it feels classic and old, Victorian architecture and sculptures / statues and whatnot. Atlanta feels more spread out and suburban despite being twice as populated, and I’ve never been to a major city that had more nature / parks & trails / forested area right by the heart of town. Atlanta feels very new as well and doesn’t feel as “classic”, a lot of the cityscape has more of a 70s / 80s / 90s design to it (and the richer areas like Midtown and Buckhead have neo-contemporary skyscrapers)

Five years ago I wanted to move to Atlanta so bad. I still would do it, for sure, if I could transplant my job there. it has the charm of Baltimore, but is nicer, cheaper, better weather. All I’d miss would be crab.

Guys one of the craziest things I saw live was, one of very few times that laterals at the end of a game actually worked and scored a touchdown. The Saints did this to the Jags with 0:07 on the clock and went like 70 yards to change the score 20-13 to 20-19... and then John Carney missed the XP and they STILL lost lolllll [MEDIA]

Yeah I mean for every great game I’ve been to, there’s also one of us looking like a Div II college team against Tennessee in 95 degrees and humid. So it definitely sucks sometimes hahaha but thats the risk you take for the euphoria of WINNING live and you’re drunk and excited as hell

Getting to see Jalen Ramsey’s playoff interception live was great. He literally intentionally tipped a *bullet pass* to himself and made a diving catch before it hit the ground to seal a victory. I lost my shit. BUF / JAX was a very slow / defensive game but that play was crazy good.

Also. You can see better from up higher. I’ve never understood the need to pay way more to be close to the field. For basketball / hockey it makes sense... but for football your sense of angles is all off and you can’t see the play developing as well. Upper level seating is always a better experience and I’ve done plenty of both

I mean yeah I take mass transit and sit in upper level seats for teams that DIDNT win 6 Super Bowls lol. None of those things are a problem if you’re like me and prefer to live urban hahah Granted, Boston is stupid expensive but that’s why I chose Atlanta. Huge city I could still afford to be in. Until bagel.
