Idk I think Curb and Seinfeld are pretty close. The highs of Curb are probably higher

Anyone ever listen to David Kilgour? New Zealand songwriter, put out some phenomenal albums in the early 90s. It’s got a twangy emo/indie feel to it, I think this album in particular has a lot of crossover appeal. Check out if you’re a fan of Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity, the American Analog Set, Owen, Wild Pink, LVL Up, Wilco… a mix of vibes. [MEDIA]

I watch Seinfeld pretty much every day of my life and I think the “Larry David is the reason why it’s so good” take is mostly bullshit and Jerry is just as integral to the show being what it is but every day I wonder what the hell happened to him after

Idk, there is nuance there but I mostly feel like that there are greater factors destroying the environment that deserve to be called out. Calling out artists for selling vinyl and/or collectors who only want to best support an artist—just seems misguided.

Can someone show me a chart that shows where vinyl production falls on the "bad for the environment" scale? I'm sure it is to an extent, but is it any different than any other "collecting" type hobby? Funkos, baseball cards, posters, I dunno, what else do people collect? Any sort of material collection feels like it could potentially fall into a "bad for the environment" bucket.

You gotta listen. If you dig them, it’s like an Appleseed Cast album in disguise. Also, beyond the fact it’s a really tightly-wrapped concept album, it’s also just amazing sequentially. Every song molds itself into whatever comes next so it feels like one long song. I agree that it has peaks and valleys but those high points are transcendent and life-affirming in ways I’ve only experienced a handful of times with any music. I remember exactly where and when it was when I first heard Pneuma as a teenager, and honestly, it hasn’t changed in its effect for me since.

Pneuma is easily their best and my favorite from them. It’s always been weird to see it getting overlooked around here. Truly a flawless, gorgeous masterpiece. Ode We Will Bury Ourselves was my favorite song ever written for as long as I can remember. It might still be, but I can’t listen to it too often, it’s so powerful.

man Big Sean is just one of those highly-praised rappers I cannot get behind. absolutely garbage bars that are saying nothing and he always sounds like he's scrambling over the beat. he's got a few bangers that are good to party to though

I don't know if you got back around to this, but to me it had its ups and down. Overall it was pretty strong with episodes 1 / 6 and the finale all being great, but it got a little bonkers and not necessarily hard to follow, but convoluted, and confusing on some motives and actions. (And the last episode dumps so much plot that I wish was revealed differently / sooner). I don't think it ever reached the peak of the 1st episode, but I enjoyed the animation / the philosophy, and the overall vibe of the world so I'd say it was well worth my time finishing it up. Anyone have other recommendations if liked the following as far as 'anime' goes? (I go loosely with that term so don't come at me that not all of this is anime). Neon Genesis (still watching, not very far but plan on going back to it), Cyberpunk Edge Runners/ Castlevania, Blue Eye Samurai / Pluto.

that's fair. I enjoy it, but I can see how it might sound contrived. at the same time, I don't get the impression he's "bored" of rapping. thinking about it, it's an interesting, complex idea when you measure contrivance vs sincerity with art. I think there's no way of telling what's being "performed" and what's "authentic" to an artist. there are levels of expression and it probably comes down to the audience and whether they can suspend their disbelief and go along with the artist's ride. maybe it goes somewhere strange/foreign but somehow winds up feeling "true" in another way.

Nothing wrong with weird voices or cadences in rap. I enjoy the vocal experiments. The Eminem comparison mostly doesn’t work bc Eminem’s lyrics suck

I agree his other recent albums didn’t get much love but they were still good. This one just seems a little more tapped-in to me. And like others said the production is stellar. I also feel like there’s a bit less filler/more consistent vibe on this one.
