I get what you mean but I think it makes most sense lyrically as the closing song. Whole album feels sequenced like an emotional journey.

Nope, Happy Jack Records, Parallax Records, and Prototype Records. Missed that one but they sure had a lot of stores! Didn’t want to peeve off my wife and father-in-law visiting every one we passed, even though I wanted to lol.

Visited some record stores while visiting Japan—these are from both Tokyo and Kyoto. Some Japanese albums and some other international stuff, all different genres. Excited to dig into them when I get home. Tomorrow’s our last day of the trip so I may get some more.

Yeah it sucks but I’m Jewish and still going to listen to her music. The threshold is different for everyone.

Maybe, but when you're in a relationship with "Jaydolf Spitler" himself and defaulting to the "I liked his paintings" excuse, you gotta wonder. I'm just saying it sucks, especially rolled in with the other shit. You can still do or say antisemitic things without going as far as Kanye has.

Her comments about Hitler were really fuckin stupid and a terrible example of whatever point she was trying to make about compassion, I also think there is a huge difference between what she’s trying to say and what Kanye is currently doing

The difference between Erykah and Kanye is that Erykah makes fantastic music and for the most part keeps her shitty opinions out of her art. hyped to check out whatever she comes up with The Alchemist

That sounds fantastic. We are in Kyoto now after a few days in Tokyo. Unfortunately not visiting the Ghibli museum either but still cool to see all Mononoke-isms at the Shinto shrines and such. So great to contextualize the films with the actual history. I saw my first jazz concert with Andre 3000 in Philly a few months back. Absolutely mindblowing experience. I’ll have to check out Takemura’s stuff—appreciate the rec!

We stayed at a traditional inn as well. Fantastic experience. The Ghibli museum was fully booked when we were there, unfortunately. But we did go to the TeamLabs exhibits in Tokyo, which lived up to the hype. If you find yourself in Sapporo, we stumbled upon a jazz club there called Slowboat which was incredible. I’d never actually seen a live jazz performance before. It blew my mind. The drummer was Ittetsu Takemura and he was mesmerizing to watch.

I’m going with a release from last year: Mabe Fratti - Sentir Que No Sabes Discovered this artist from the music league on this forum. She is a cellist/vocalist from Guatemala. This record is so fucking cool, man. Some of these songs sound like they could score a horror film. Wikipedia says her genre is avant-garde/experimental so let’s just go with that because I honestly don’t know how to describe it lol [MEDIA]

It’s amazing. We’re staying at a traditional inn right now. Just woke up after sleeping on a tatami mat—feels surreal after spending so much of my life as a huge fan of Ghibli, Nintendo, and tons of Japanese music. Just may have to choose an album from here when it gets to my turn!
