Got last minute tickets and went and I’m so happy I did. I couldn’t believe it when I saw people sitting on their phones playing games or reading looking bored during Thursday/Death Cab. I was thinking “do you not realize how amazing to have openers this good?????”

Yeah that song sounded huge at Crossroads so I an only imagine how big it felt in a stadium.

yeah I think they're kind of "your favourite band's favourite band" in this scene, I think anyone who's reasonably plugged in knows their legacy but they don't have a hit like MakeDamnSure that the more casual folks would know

onionbubs replied to the thread Band Anberlin.
wouldnt say its irrelevant because people are definitely more against the premise of the memphis may fire guy being in anberlin than they were the alkaline trio guy being in blink, so the criticisms were different because it did get compared to matts contributions. one of the biggest complaints people had about california was that he was underutilized and felt like a session musician, wheras nobody is saying there isnt enough matty lol. some people were just upset it wasnt tom, sure, but it wasnt the entire fanbase like it is here

Eh, the majority of the discourse on twitter I had seen on it was generally about the scientology stuff

apples and oranges tbh since skiba was downgrading by coming from alk3 to blink instead of the other way around like it is here

i feel like i dig the new song musically a lot more than i dig it vocally, not that i think chino sounds bad just that hes mixed really low and his part isnt terribly interesting. still a cool track tho

tbs's worst is probably money or faith. happiness is and tidal wave pick things up greatly and are essentials tho jimmy's tbh my least fav is 555 but thats more so a swing and a miss against my own aesthetic preferences rather than an outright bad track my favorite band from the scene in high school was alkaline trio, and their worst song is probably live young die fast. zzzzzz

I'm ashamed to say I wrote the band off after Crash Love. I'm not sure I ever even listened to Burials...but listening through now and this is some good shit.

Kind of wild he’s had that ace in the sleeve this whole time. I’m really interested in their approach to a 12th album. Pretty radical in a time where bands from this scene are grasping at the 20 year tours and nostalgia obsession. also some magazine needs to do a write up on his style with every album release. Love that his mustache is half the chatter online rn.

Been turning to Panorama a lot more lately and see it creeping higher for me. Wildlife is special, but I think Rooms has passed it for me with Panorama getting up there.
