I’ve posted this in the Accountability thread and the Christian music thread, but it just occurred to me that this thread hasn’t been updated in a while and I feel like this is really important. Michael Tait of DC Talk and The Newsboys has been accused of grooming and sexual assault over a number of years by multiple men. Wouldn’t hesitate to guess that it probably goes back a lot further than even what is being presented here. One moment, please... I was raised on DC Talk (both Jesus Freak and Supernatural got a lot of spins out of me) and when I look back on the lyrics and the production of Jesus Freak especially, the indoctrination is so thorough and insidious. When you consider Billy Graham’s involvement with the band in using them to inflict religious trauma on an entire generation of kids and teens, that alone is enough to give me cause to reassess my relationship with this group. But this… My heart breaks for the victims and also for the extended groups of people around them who are so enmeshed in the evangelical Christian rhetoric that they themselves have clearly struggled to call this what it is (fucking assault) and not just “forgive” him as Jesus “would have them.” Soon as I read those words it all felt so terribly familiar and unsurprising and that breaks my heart.

Already posted this in the Accountability thread, but feel it should be posted here too. This breaks my childhood heart. Genuinely feel sick over it. One moment, please...

This made me feel sick. I know Tait’s sexuality has been a sort of “open secret” in the industry for decades now, but to finally know the truth about the multiple assaults he committed after being raised to look up to him as a kid has got me in my feelings right now. One moment, please...

The endings for all the fascist characters and perfect. On my rewatch of Rogue One, it’s one of the things that Andor really helped enhance. Krennic is presented as the top of the pyramid in Andor, but then in Rogue One, he’s at the bottom groveling and then getting spit out just like Syril, Dedra, and even Partagaz.

I normally think of musical artists who feel like they've grown up with me and when they release an album it feels like what I'm going thru in each phase of my life and it feels a different unique kind of special Mike birbiglia is the only comedian I can think of like that. Where each of his specials just resonates so hard with that piece of adulthood or place in life for me. He's an absolute mastercraft at storytelling and piercing through the heart while being funny. Loved his new special

even just that quick blurb from Edwards and that snippet of a discussion with the ILM guy shows more thought than Trevorrow put into any of the shots in Jurassic World half that fucking movie is quick CGI inserts because they forgot to / didn't bother to shoot it, like the front gate to the park 215 million dollar budget and they couldn't be bothered to make a fucking halfway decent gate

I’m trying to be positive, or at least somewhat open minded, about the D-Rex. I do feel that, you know, big dinos are cool and interesting enough as it is and wouldn’t mind just sticking with that, but if they at least make this mutant Xenomorph/Rancor engaging and legitimately terrifying than I’m down with watching the big guy run around with the other big guys. My biggest issue with the Indominous Rex in Jurassic World was that it had all the makings of a compelling, scary creation, but suffered such lifeless direction from Trevorrow that it might as well have not even been there. The Indoraptor in Fallen Kingdom at least had some cartoonish, Bugs Bunny charm in that one scene because of Bayona. I like what Edwards had to say about the D-Rex being frightening but also sympathetic: “It’s a design that I was really happy with,” says the director. “I’d like to buy the toy of it when it comes out.” And like the greatest movie monsters, it’s meant to inspire pity as well as terror. “It’s as if another animal has been wrapped around the T-Rex,” says ILM’s David Vickery. “Gareth wanted us to feel sorry for it as well as terrified, because its deformities have caused it some pain, and there’s an encumbrance to it.” Meet The Distortus Rex: Jurassic World Rebirth’s Mutant Is ‘Like The T-Rex Designed By HR Giger’
