Humility has been stuck in my head for days. The one two punch of that with Enjoyment is the peak of this great album for me

That acoustic performance really opened up my eyes (and ears hmm) to the chords actually used for the progression; a bit more thought has gone into that, but I ultimately think the overall sound is the right direction. Can't have it all with certain choices.

I've done a lot of tab creation for people by request over the years and 100% of everything I learn on guitar is by ear, but I didn't even bother to learn the singles until I watched those videos of Kenny performing them with just vocals and clean guitar. haha. They use a lot of open notes, 7 chords, etc. so there is a ton of tonal information there, and it just starts to sound like a wall of fuzz with the way they chose to process them since they aren't just power chords. It doesn't really hurt my overall listening experience, but I also feel like a lot of that harmonic goodness from their chord choices are probably going largely unnoticed.

I keep having to drive so much lately (once was for blink though!) so I've put this record on so many times this weekend. God, it's so solid front to back. Definitely not a skip track to be found. I think "Humility" is the one that's grown on me the most (that chorus is so good). One thing I did not anticipate for me, personally, is that I've sort of effortlessly enjoyed this album as its own thing. We've had this conversation a million times about trying to rank things, trying to compare them to past works, etc. but for whatever reason, it hasn't even crossed my mind. Maybe it's been too long since the last album, but I don't even try to connect it in my brain as a follow-up to Direction... and I'm kind of glad that's the case.

There was some more detail in one of the other interviews/articles that was posted. I think he was exaggerating and didn’t literally mean “no effects”, just that they tried to minimize the studio “trickery” as much as they could. Like if they recorded a part with delay or a chorus pedal they then tried it without and usually liked the more raw version better.

Can’t believe I’m finally sitting at the show in KC just waiting for blink to come out. Missouri got skipped on the first tour and then they canceled both dates on the second time around… but we are finally here, about to see blink with Tom for the first time since the reunion (and first time at all since like 2009 for me lol)

Two listens through this while driving out of town for work. Initial thoughts are.... It rules, first and foremost. My early favorites are "I See How It Is", "Enjoyment" and the title track. I most enjoy the sections where they take a bit of a turn. This album might have the overall best work Kenny's done on bass. He adds so many great flourishes everywhere. He's really an underrated player (particularly how he can sing and play bass during the verses of "Blame" live - those two things are so independent of each other). Agree on the production sort of contributing to the "samey" feel throughout (I'm a bit surprised by the lack of dynamics in the songs themselves), but nothing about it is really a dealbreaker for me. The songs are still so strong. Just overall, I'm really enjoying the spirit of the album. As much as I love BOATS and Direction, I can still feel the push and pull going on there between trying to sound a certain way/breaking away from SILYMI, attempting to maintain relevancy, infighting with labels, etc. This album just feels like it has no agenda. It's just fun and exists solely for the love of making music.

It feels so surreal listening to a new TSL album in 2025. What a gift!

Going to wait until tomorrow to jump in when I can actually focus. I’ve replayed the singles a million times over and haven’t gotten even the slightest bit tired of them. So excited for this.

“We had no idea that our baby girl was there with us as we were shooting this album cover and doing these videos and stuff,” he says. “It’s crazy looking at the album cover now and knowing that Eternal Youth has this whole new meaning.” pretty cool

I'm trying so hard to not be overhyped and end up possibly disappointed - but god damn I am so ready and hopeful for this. The singles so far are fantastic, they'll killing it live more than ever, they seem like such nice and genuine dudes, and I am really just so excited for them to get the attention they really deserve as some of the best in the genre.
