It's wild how much Honey is being overlooked.

Yea Virgin is sitting at #2 for me too, it feels like such a nice sister album to Melodrama

Got to see her on Friday. What an incredible show. She knows how to execute a vision and really bring it to life. Some really awesome light work that really highlighted the ultrasound/xray concept of the album. And she's so good at making you feel like you're in on a secret with her. I could nitpick the setlist a *little* bit but I will not. The album has really revealed itself more and more over repeated listens the last few months, she really did something special here. I would comfortably place it as my 2nd favorite from her at this point, but it's not far behind Melodrama.

Ngl, playing Alan Wake 2 last night at like midnight with headphones when I was way too tired and should have just gone to bed was a terrifying experience.

People that can’t get into Particle Physics probably need a PhD to get it

I get the guest vocal complaint for Mat Kerekes. But I feel like Patrick has a pretty big part of Particle Physics, and Deanna is a huge part of what makes the bridge of Things Like This work so well.

This is a great bridge in a career full of them. It absolutely makes the song.

This is actually growing on me quite a bit. I don't disagree that it's a weaker entry in her catalogue, but it's not a disaster either. The Fate of Ophelia, Opalite, Ruin The Friendship, Wishlist, Honey, and the Life of a Showgirl all completely work for me. I enjoy a lot about Father Figure and Eldest Daughter even if they're held down by some clunkier lyrics. The rest is pretty much fine, with the only true disaster for me being CANCELLED! and the lyrics to Actually Romantic (I enjoy it sonically, but the Charli diss of it all is embarrassing). I find my Taylor fatigue doesn't actually have anything to do with her at all and is entirely coming from the discourse itself. This album is neither groundbreaking nor a disaster, but everyone seems to think they have to choose one of those two options.

I don't think it's an "asterisk," necessarily. Any artist can do this shit if they want. Sabrina Carpenter did a similar thing with a bonus track to boost her first-week numbers this summer. The last Olivia Rodrigo album had four vinyl editions and each had a different bonus track. It's annoying, but it's definitely just the way it works now.

There are definitely things you can criticize about Taylor, but I always find this one a little overblown, and I think, especially with the way she's doing it for this release, it's silly to get worked up about. She's not withholding actual bonus tracks here. I promise, your fave would do this too if anyone would care enough to buy it. Personally, I think it's dumb as hell that anyone would get these. But I also really don't care what other people choose to spend their money on. What @ItsAndrew just described with Midnights, I do think is a little more insidious, but that's not what's happening here (so far).
