AFI has been my favorite band for 25 years. I remember how shocking it was to hear Girls Not Grey for the first time, and how each album that followed continued to surprise me. I became a fan because of Art of Drowning and Black Sails, but I’m glad they've kept changing things up all this time instead of continuing to play the same things. I know not everyone agrees, but I think their longevity can be at least somewhat attributed to that desire not to repeat themselves and to keep making the art they want to make, rather than that which some people want them to make. That said, I'm absolutely ecstatic that I can sit here 2 1/2 decades later and still be moved by their music in the same way a much younger version of me once was.

The pre-anticipation before FUCT and then the album coming out and being the literal best thing ever. That's something I don't think I'll ever experience again.

Kind of wild he’s had that ace in the sleeve this whole time. I’m really interested in their approach to a 12th album. Pretty radical in a time where bands from this scene are grasping at the 20 year tours and nostalgia obsession. also some magazine needs to do a write up on his style with every album release. Love that his mustache is half the chatter online rn.

Yeah, this is basically the equivalent of the MTV Movie Awards nominating "Twilight" for Best Picture every year.

I hate to say it but that's entirely reasonable for 2025 concert tickets for Chappell Roan

Even if it wasn't AFI, it is a very good track.

This is the freshest and most unique they've probably ever sounded. I wonder how I'd feel about it if I didn't know it was AFI

Lastnight, I listened to this song quietly from my one little iPhone speaker up to my ear, and I wasn't into it. This morning, I read the press release and then blasted the song in my better speakers, and now I'm fully on board.

I looked at their past releases, and while I wouldn't purchase any liquid vinyl for many reasons, I think the prices are reasonable for full-length releases. With that said, it's completely ridiculous to charge that much for a single, no matter how special they pressed it.

$45 for a single not including shipping is absolute insanity.

  18. macbethfan liked Micah511's post in the thread Band Anberlin.

Matty isn't any good, but it is 100% about how they've handled everything with Stephen. If the announcement was, "Stephen doesn't want to tour right now, and he may not want to do recorded music moving forward either. Stephen brought Matty to us, who he knew was a huge fan, and we jived with him and he will be the singer moving forward. We know everyone loves Stephen, but let's give Matty a warm welcome, because we believe he is the best option for Anberlin moving forward" the whole thing would've been a lot easier to swallow. I wouldn't have liked it, but I would've understood that Stephen put them in an unenviable situation, and they're just trying to make a living on the road. But instead, they are super vague, troll fans online, and re-record old songs that had no business being re-recorded.

Just listen to the songs. the order truly doesn’t matter. If it did she would’ve had a track listing. Truly wild the amount of discourse around this when we just got 17 songs released out of nowhere lol
