You know a record is special when a different song smacks you in the face with each listen. I'm on my third listen, and City of Angels is that song currently. Chills.

Question for @williamryankey. How hard was it to wait until the release date knowing what you were about to bestow on the world? You guys must have been exploding every day on the inside! It's perfect, thank you and congratulations.

First listen done - the immediacy of it on the first run-through is incredible. Looking forward to delving deeper into it.

Just wanted to to stop in real quick. First impression: this album is special. I was not prepared for City of Angels. It made me cry.

Big Blue Eyes. Both my little kids have big blue eyes. Love the songs about marriage, family, etc. Super relatable. Fun to grow up with this band and have shared experiences without really knowing each other. Well written album man. So good.

Travis just came on one day and asked “have you guys ever done a shuffle song?” We said no. Then Bedroom Posters was born

I have very clear memories of driving to work on Friday Sept 30th 2016, listening to the self titled for the first time, crying my eyes out because this was the last album I was gonna get from one of my favorite bands. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna drive to work on a Friday again, probably crying tears of joy while listening to a new album from that same band.

When we first decided to make a full length I wanted to test myself to see if I could still write an entire Yellowcard song on my own. This is back in like October of 2023. I demoed the whole thing at home in my studio. I didn’t show it to the band and Travis until the record was almost done. I guess I just still wasn’t sure. But I’m so stoked it made the record. It was a huge confidence boost for me. After the solo EPs and Jedha and all of the instrumental music I had gotten into for so many years I didn’t know if I could wear this hat again. Rad to see people vibing with that song.

one listen through: yup, its V good. i always have a hard time when ive heard 40% of the album beforehand and then I listen to the whole thing and my brain is like "the new album is only 6 songs", and i just judge the album based on those 6 new songs only. Love Letters Lost (even though I have never loved Skiba's voice) and Barely Alive are maybe my favorite two of the "new" tracks. Ending with Big Blue Eyes....tearjerker. holy shit, what a beautiful song. kinda reminds me of how the 1975 closed out Being FUnny with "When We are Together". but prettier. Skin Scraped didnt catch me much on first listen. I do wish we had more violin in the mix and just in general. but overall, they knocked it out of the park.

Quite a positive first listen! I like it better when they sound more like YC and less like blink, and when the drumming is less obviously Travis Barker, but that's most of the album.

“‘Barely Alive’ is the first song we wrote together for the album. It’s the first song we demoed with Travis Barker. It’s the song that lit the spark for this whole thing to be possible." This is the craziest part. Such a good song to be the first to be written.

On my fourth listen. Goodness, this is great. At first I felt like it was a little too Blink inspired. But I think that was an unconscious bias based on knowing Travis drummed and produced. Taking it at face value it's a Yellowcard evolution - a powerful surge. So glad they're back and killing it. What a record. Barely Alive's violin driven bridge is just too good.

Now I can read other reviews and get caught up on interviews without worrying about being swayed. All the other reviews look super positive so far. That track by track posted earlier makes me feel good about two points I made in my review too.
