I feel like freeze dried is real hot right now. I'm seeing it everywhere. Obviously I had heard of it before but it seems to be having it's moment.

Agreed. It felt like in my city it passed with so little drama, and for better or worse I enjoyed that. I didn't hear of anyone going that I know, didn't see anyone talking about going beforehand (at local bars), or hear anyone talk about it after. I know people did go, but I'm happy it passed so quickly and silently. If it's going to exist, just exist in quiet. Can't change the venues decisions, or the people who are buying tickets minds, so I'm happy to just let that wave peacefully drift on by without wasting any energy on caring about it.

I think I'm sitting a little too close as it's mounted on the back side of my desk (which is somewhat shallow) but I'm used to it now. I need to decide on a 2nd sized monitor. I am thinking a 24" vertical (it's for work, but hey, not my fault if they become multipurpose). Work purchased it as I'm wfh now so it is a 'budget' monitor as I didn't want to spend too much, but I like it so far.

32 inches is such a good size for a gaming monitor.

I started a new BG3 playthrough and I AM going to finish it this time. I'm trying to avoid playing certain toxic online games that I'm really just bad at and stress me out in the evenings and get some other things going. My 1st play through I got to 72 hours in, and the 2nd, just 13. The 1st play I abandoned as I left the game for too long and now have no idea where I'm going, what I'm doing or any of the mechanics I learned along the way and it just lost all narrative momentum. The 2nd, I made a horrible choice and am stuck in a fight I don't want to have, so I just started again to avoid that story choice. I'm at the moment where this time, I won't do what I did before. I'm also enjoying it more now as I got a new 32" monitor and wow, can I read the text, see the map better etc etc.

I really want to make a more concerted effort to sick with games I am enjoying instead of switching over to the new hotness.

Went to dragoncon in Atlanta this weekend and one of the most popular costumes was the alternate mime outfit (complete with bread) from Expedition 33. I think because it was a group costume it multiplied like crazy, always saw them walking through the hallways in 5-10 person groups. The most popular costume was non-gaming and was kpop demon hunters by far.

Being on MARTA going to a football game alongside all the DragonCon folks was a blast.

Nah, the Garden Knight will always stick with its tone thus far, a nice bled of cozy and spooky. The Servant is somewhat darker, but still high fantasy—influenced by dark fantasy, but not grimdark by any stretch. It should still generally have a hopeful vibe overall. And thanks again for picking those up dude! Never fails to flatter me when I see pictures of them in the wild haha.

Just got done with a weekend at dragoncon in Atlanta and the love for DCC was apparent. So many Carls around the place. That was going to be my cosplay, but I didn't do one in time. Different media, but I went as Jacket from Hotline Miami (like last year) and while I'm sure I wasn't the only one, I didn't see any others. DIdn't really want to be another Carl among Carls. Plus I thought my Jacket was awesome and really well done. I didn't go to as many panels this year but I did sit in on a Ryan Cahill panel where the audience debated wizards in a bracket style tournament, and lets say people had some opinions - it was quite funny. Ryan is actually at dragoncon most years and I have seen more of his panels / lectures, but this year was less panels and more people watching and to be honest... partying. Lastly, people give out ribbons that you stick to your badge for certain activities / 'quests' etc - some are as simple as just saying 'Hey, Nice carl' so in return I got this.

yeah, five years ago. we almost didn't make it out alive. we lost a dog and a cat and everything we owned aside from the clothes we were wearing. when I give your books to my dad or pass them along to someone else I'll buy the signed copies

I realized I was broke when @OwainGlyndwr released the second Garden Knight full length, so I just ordered that and The Servant and I'll be reading those next. my kids are getting a little older, and they had a playroom that we made for them when they were basically toddlers, so we cleaned that room out and made it more age appropriate for them now, and part of that was getting a real bookshelf, and I've started filling up one shelf with my books which I haven't done since I lost all of them in the fire. I've been almost exclusively getting library books, but I did have a small stack of books right next to my bed of things that I actually bought, but now they have a home.
