I dig this a lot more than I thought I would, based on these comments. Guys can’t write a bad hook.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who compares track numbers within a band's discography, outside of the obvious opening/closing tracks

I’m on some 5-dimensional shit with this. Not only do I do it for each track 1-12 on most releases, I do it for suites, I do it for “best middle of album track,” (must be an odd number!) “best three song stretch,” “best second to last track” (since every album is a different length and track listing), best instrumental, best interlude, and way more. Best same named song pairings “Better Off Dead” by Bad Religon and NFG, You’re Not Alone” by Saosin and Home Grown, etc) best songs in certain key signatures (so I always know what I could easily play in D major, etc). Then I compare by year, by genre, and my overall. I have 844 playlists. It’s a disorder. But it keeps me alive and makes me happy.

This truly feels like a new album. Between this, TSL, Motion City, Yellowcard, I dont even know what year we are in right now.

C&S is a lot like What a Catch, Donnie off of Folie to me in that it feels like the closer but also needs something after it for a comedown of sorts

Black Swan supremacy, but TMTP is as good an album I could have hoped for from them at this stage in their career. I will always listen to whatever they put out and try to catch a Chicago show.

You absolutely should be able to hear the hi-hat and accents on the opening drums in Patsy Cline. You are now. I've been hopping around Aus YouTube for a preview and this is definitive 'it always should have fucking sounded like this' tier stuff, folks.

Patsy Cline is one of their best if we're chopping and changing honestly I think it's really obvious that Cigarettes and Saints should be the penultimate track going into t/t, that is way too powerful a song to be smack bang in the middle of the album lol

The fact that nothing has been re-recorded is mad, the new versions sound absolutely massive in comparison. Also very intrigued as to how they'll re-imagine the album artwork

I’d argue that the band isnt begrudgingly “returning to form,” but rather choosing to do so willingly. If anything, albums like Coming Home were made because of external demands, and not the other way around. For the record, Coming Home is my favorite NFG album, but there’s no way they weren’t forcibly nudged by their label to make it and capitalize on the Dashboard Confessional/The Fray etc cash cow that was happening at the time. NFG is great at making fun pop punk tunes. Laugh it Off is a great pop punk tune.

Tim could literally make a ton of things with this exact tone and it will work for me every time, the premiere was so funny The wheelbarrow bit, him being uncomfortable on his pillow and "she's like 100 years old" got the biggest laughs from me
