“Me & You Together Song” is probably the pre-release song I proportionately listened to least before getting the album (outside of, I think, “Jesus Christ...”), but I think it’s currently my second fav after “Frail State of Mind.”

God I get why i needed a few listens to process the instrumentals but I originally saw it as filler but now they are stating to fit into the flow of things for me quite well..

Las time I was in here I was still not sure of much but now I feel like this could end up being something I see as a classic? lol it could be the time of my life that I am listening to it in but god damn this is such an amazing variety of music

Their live shows can be extremely elaborate from now on. They probably could have a reduced tour schedule, hit A+B markets, and do 2 night stays with 2 different set lists. Few bands could do that

Predictably I like all the pop/rock songs on this and could do without all the instrumental interludes and electronic tracks. Hate to be so basic but that's my immediate first take

It's INSANE how many epically (ew I don't like that but I'm sticking with it) great tracks that they have in such a short amount of time. It also became more and more apparent that the "experimentation" on some of these more recent records has been in their wheelhouse since the very beginning. What used to seem like a small foot note on earlier EP releases is now just far more normal and expanded.

IIRC Stranger In The Alps is in a way a compilation of the songs she had written since she was a teenager. It's still a great and cohesive listen, but I believe Punisher will benefit from the fact that all of these songs were written thorughout a shorter period of time, with the record in mind from the get-go.

I mean the packaging of this new album is made from recycled materials, they've made changes to their stage show to be more sustainable, they've planted trees for every ticket sold for their concerts (and albums, I think? But not sure). I get that those two songs in isolation stand out against the rest of the album but I wouldn't say they haven't followed through on their mission statement.

I think that it's so jarring and a bit weird is kind of the point? It's supposed to draw attention away from the form (I think) and bring awareness to something bigger. I get it though, and I don't think being exhausted by the intro is in any way a dismissal of the issues they're raising. I probably won't listen to it in full every time I listen to the album. I really respect them for sharing their platform to raise awareness of climate change though so for that alone this intro means more to me than any of the others. Also, I'm sure Matty's said in interviews that Greta approached other artists who've spoke out on climate change who declined her the opportunity to work with them. If that's true then the fact that they've done this when no one else would makes me respect them a lot more than I already did.

I mean this is 22 songs and 80 minutes long and has a few techno and dance tangents. My wife loves the 1975. She is not going to like this record. Some of the songs sure, but she likes her music a little more to the point.
