This is how I feel about it. Just takes me back to being 15 and in love with this band and so many other bands. I have such a fondness for my formative years but with that comes a real sense of pain and loss too. I think Bedroom Posters absolutely nails that sense of reality that you’re grown up now, and while there is no way to go back and relive those more innocent moments, the music always takes us back to better days. It’s a perfect song for me.

Vocals on the album as a whole are spectacular. I find myself constantly returning to the verses of Barely Alive and You Broke Me Too where Ryan absolutely crushes. Those vocals in the lower ranges along with lyrical creativity feels different than anything I can think of before Better Days.

I feel almost the complete opposite - for my ears, the more expansive drum fills and cymbal work were what I really was missing with both Lift a Sail and the self titled, it is really refreshing to hear them back. The last minute of “Barely Alive” is a perfect example of how the tremendous drum fills and cymbals working into the mix help the back end of that song sound massive.

Travis is very tasteful on this album. Same for those Goldfinger album(s?). I really appreciate that, as a listener of YC, the focus is still on the YC boys. I have to remind myself that Travis is actually drumming.

Travis has his moments, but he totally nailed that classic “Yellowcard drum vibe”, feels like he’s even paying tribute to former drummers at times.

I absolutely love the way this album sounds, including the drums and cymbals. It sounds absolutely massive and crisp at the same time, at least to my ears

I think I've listened to this album wayyyyyyyy too much, because every time someone types this word in this thread I think it's a joke and the chorus starts playing in my head.

Ryan's vocals in the chorus are insane. There's a yearning in them which tips the chorus over the edge. After the bridge where the music cuts out and it's just his vocal gives me goosebumps.

Finally got to really sit down with this today and am just so damn happy. As someone who was at that last show in 2017 right as I was graduating college, needless to say this band and its various phases have been with me through my own phases of life for just about as long as I can remember. And having another YC phase to enjoy is such a pleasure. Have a lot more thoughts I’ll try to type up at some point, but for now I’m sitting here wondering how high City of Angels will land on my all time YC favorites list. Because holy shit, what a song. Chills on first and all repeated listens.

If Better Days is the WYTTSY of this reunion, then the next record is going to be fucking insane. The bar has been set incredibly high. Such a gift that we have this band back, and as revitalized as they are.

This is far better than I expected it to be, honestly. Crazy to get such great comeback records from MCS, TSL, and Yellowcard in quick succession. One of those albums where I basically added every song to my “currents” playlist as I was listening.
