I complain a lot about this but it annoys me that they’re doing a fan set for a tour that exists specifically to attract every casual they can. Probably 60% of the crowd on any given night will not have heard deteriorating incline in their life and yet we need these people to vote for it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about how those background-metalcore bands like veil, erra, etc rose up and filled the void when mid-aughts metalcore faded away. Wild trajectory to me.

TIL Veil of Maya has been a band for 20 years. They got a lot of mileage out of being a mid-level djent band tbh.

given that we didn’t get the observatory stream and the fan vote setlist is largely just going to generate current and past set staples, some sort of olive branch to the disambig (heck even LITSOS) crowd seems warranted!

Also, use them if you're not actually sick, but just need a day off.

COunter point: You should use all your allotted sick days every year, unless they accumulate. And also of course definitely use them if you're actually sick. Stop coming into work contagious!

I love the way he sounds on the second part of his verses, where he’s yelling a bit more

Seconded, when it comes to his cleans I prefer him in full ethereal, Chino mode like in most of Disambiguation or Hallelujah's second verse

i think spencer melds better as the song goes on but his first few intro verses are my least favorite part. his voice just doesn't work with melodic, poppy styles at all but the man clearly loves doing it.

Ik this band doesn’t need defending and I haven’t listened since the Tilian fallout, but fwiw I did catch their set while waiting for black veil brides (ik ik, I felt gross going to this tour, but I’d wanted to see BVB and bought a cheap secondhand ticket to not support) and Andrew sounded phenomenal. diverse setlist too. I did not think popular scene bands were capable of filling sets with deep cuts like that, let alone an opener set.

Best part is when he inadvertently throws the rest of the band under the bus for not being able to sing harmonies haha

heh I dig the video. Some of the poses/sequences are a bit corny, and I hope one day spencer grows up and stops flipping off the crowd/camera, but there’s a split second where we catch Aaron shoulder shrugging/dancing and I wish it was a couple seconds longer.

Surprised by the feedback on the song. I absolutely adore after a few plays. Super different for them, and very fun. I especially love Spencer’s vocals on the second part of his verses where he’s yelling a bit. Aaron’s drumming is great too. Definitely feels like an interlude style track at times, but this has me excited for the full release for sure.
