For me it’s the fact I am so connected to Charmed but the idea of going into another album that length intimidates me but I can handle that one, esp on a long drive

Awesome thanks ! Gonna dive in tonight, I found Charmed when I was searching for “albums for falling in love” lmao and I remembered the name from the 1975 connection, and since then I’ve been really into dance stuff, even moving towards it in my own music. Prob why I like Dracula so much, that one gets me moving

That was me ! I heard DJ Seinfeld mentioned recently (possibly by Sabrina actually?) what would you recommend to start with ?

Damn, props to everyone here for keeping this mostly spoiler free. Super glad to hear Deathless made the cut, 11 songs is pretty disappointing I gotta say but I can’t complain when not even a year ago I was convinced they’d never be a band ever again. Gonna try to go in blind to the setlist as much as possible but if anyone wants to hang in Boston shoot me a dm on here !

i had only seen them once before, in 2017, and i didnt think they were very good. much better tonight. honestly they all seemed to be having a great time and i think that helped a lot. the first time i saw them greg sounded pretty rough, they ripped through like eight songs, said nothing, and left. the band sounded awesome. drummer killed it especially

I refuse to be convinced that him having that many people playing guitar wasn’t a direct troll to those saying they are upset by the lack of guitar on his new work lmao. What a great take on Borderline

Afterthought is good but I think it got ruined a bit for me because I hadn’t heard the album in full and someone called it this albums “Is it True” and that’s just insulting to the latter imo lol. I just feel like it’s possible he lost some of his inspiration, because genuinely good house music with his signature touch I think would still lose fans, but would open him up to enter the DJ scene and reach an entire new demographic. I don’t see that happening because House fans aren’t gonna listen to this and be like “wow, this is next level house music”. Maybe he wanted it to be more minimalist? But there’s plenty of albums that exercise restraint in powerful ways and this also doesn’t feel like that. Even though some of this sounds harsh, I still feel like it could end up being like a 7/10 for me once it grows a bit but that’s tops

Those are the exact two that I feel like actually change and warp into something by the end that makes them worthwhile. I like "Afterthought" and I'm in the minority enjoying "End of Summer," but I think "Not My World" and "Ethereal Connection" are the two club tracks here that actually show stylistic growth. The rest is shockingly stale for someone who seems so in-tune with what makes certain genres of music exciting

I’m used to singles being the most safe songs and often the more experimental stuff that isn’t single worthy ends up being my fav on albums, but Dracula is just so good and keeps growing on me and to me, there isn’t nearly enough experimentation. What’s more frustrating is not only is he more than capable of it in this style, but he showed glimpses of it on Ethereal Connection and the end of Not My World. Other than that I keep going back and forth but I feel like I’ll land on liking this more than many seem to, but never loving it

Very weird album. Not as hyperbolically bad as I was expecting -- I like it more than I don't -- but I have to agree that the club tracks are largely unengaging and feel like they lack evolution. Really kind of just makes me wish I was listening to better house music. The first two tracks are genuinely bad, which is a first for him, but the singles have grown on me exponentially, and "Piece of Heaven" has some CRAZY 80s Enya shit going on. Just kind of all over the place, stylistically and from a quality standpoint. Interesting in hearing was @beatingheartsbaby thinks

Rn I think the opener has some really pretty vocal melody’s, Tracks 3-9 all are not too bad with some being actually pretty nice, Afterthought is also cool but that one was getting hyped and it didn’t live up to it. Liking it more each listen but the lyrics here are bad. He has the ability to write some pretty introspective stuff when he puts his mind to it, nothing game changing but this… no. Does any of it really even fit the whole “Deadbeat” concept that he discussed or is that a reference to the lifeless drums ?

I was so shocked I couldn’t connect with the last two songs, these two however are fantastic. Probably need to revisit the last two a few more times

Yeah, with my previous mention of the Dj Sabrina album, the closest I can think of to something one could classify as having trippy/house elements and to me this is just levels above any of of the house tracks on here [MEDIA]

That’s kind of my problem with it…it doesn’t sound cohesive. Dracula and Loser aren’t really a good indication of the rest of the album. Being a massive house fan I was so pumped for this record. Cut Copy did a much better job at this aesthetic with their album Moments that came out earlier this year. [MEDIA] This sounds more like psych Tame than anything on the Tame record. Strangely both Australian artists.

Ultimately any setlist that’s either leaning new or pretty balanced is gonna be fantastic. Too much Waves for me would be not ideal but I do enjoy some of that album too/can see a couple fitting in with the heavier stuff off this album

@Leftandleaving and I were talking and we selfishly want as much of the new album as possible, I’ve seen them before though lol. Basically I’d be happiest with the last 2 albums and the split, but 8105 and Cover the Roots probably locked in with the re recordings, my guess was The Cascade which I love. I’ll go home happy if they play “Houses” though, honestly all I ask rn

If you liked Loser/Dracula I’d say there’s at least a couple more you’ll like, if you liked End of Summer or at least thought it was ok there’s another few you’ll probably like, I will say it’s diverse, but because those first two songs aren’t really close to much else, I’m not sure this album flows too great

The line is even worse in context lmao, there’s a few lines on here that give me that T Swift vibe of cringe or like why are you swearing in this particular forced way lol. Listen two was better but to be fair I may have had some edible assistance, a third listen should give me some clarity on it. I think it’s maybe better than anticipated but I’m not sure this has the grower potential to stay in rotation. TSR is my fav and the first time I heard Breathe Deeper I was speechless, there’s nothing like that here

I wish friend, keep an eye on resale from now leading to the show, lowest I see is $85 right now but I have a feeling resellers will drop When they see the market isn’t as crazy, also some actual fans who end up not being able to go will let theirs go cheap or occasionally free so fingers crossed

This is just not it. The drums just sound so dead and lifeless, which is bizarre for Tame. I think the festival kids will eat this up though. This is the pivot they’ve been wanting them to make for a bit. Nice to see that it looks like there’s a full band for the upcoming shows…it’ll be interesting to see how they approach the new stuff with a lot of it being 100% electronic. also, “you’re a cinephile, I watch family guy” is just an all time cringe lyric.
