Where Are Your Boys Tonight was one of my favorite reads of the past few years. Start wwith that. Sellout was great too. I also read Tranny and Meet Me in the Bathroom a few years ago, both were great, but the latter is about the NYC indie scene if that was also your thing.

I have to imagined you've read Can I Say already. I really enjoyed Sellout by Dan Ozzi and Where Are Your Boys Tonight? by Chris Payne. Not quite bios but close enough. I've had these on my TBR list for a few years but either haven't gotten to them yet or waiting on copies from the library: - From the Basement: A History of Emo Music and How It Changed Society by Taylor Markarian - Tranny by Laura Jane Grace - Do What You Want: The Story of Bad Religion by Jim Ruland - Nothing Feels Good by Andy Greenwald - Meet Me in the Bathroom by Lizzy Goodman (kind of scene adjacent but have heard good things about this one)

I guess the box office double booked my seat so I got moved five or six rows from the front. The bit is the original part of the book was going to talk about how grandparents and Dan Ozzi told him no one gives a fuck about that lol. Interesting tidbit from the show, I never knew Mark suffered from OCD, so he went into great detail how the pandemic reallly fucked with him and how it went straight from that to the cancer diagnosis and then the full circle moment of getting the call from Coachella.

Just finished reading the book. Perfect. No notes. Got tears in my eyes a few times, especially when Tom finds out about his cancer. Really hope we get a sequel one day. Now we just need Tom’s autobiography.

Even though I've heard the stories a million times, I do think his retelling of the Box Car Racer saga makes his view even more sympathetic. And he does so without demonizing Tom He wasn't just angry that Tom was writing songs without him but more that literally everyone in the blink camp, down to Travis, Jerry Finn, their booking agent, manager, label, etc. was involved. To the point that it seemed like a conspiracy to remove him, specifically. No way would anyone NOT take that personally. It also came during a time Tom claimed to want a break from touring and music and then ended up (semi-inadvertently) launching a full-fledged project. Doesn't really change anything about the story, but it does make me feel more sympathetic towards him and understand why he held onto that for so long. I think a lot of people still just think he was being petty and controlling, as if he was just saying "no side projects!"

I love that Mark's doing a press tour. Pods, interviews, articles. So good. Very much like Deryck did when Walking Disaster came out. So many great interviews and content to get through. Please don't do Bert's podcast. Please don't do Bert's podcast. Please don't do Bert's podcast.

Glad you came down on the right side, but maybe some self-reflection is due to figure out why it would take so much for you to believe the victims or why their words didn't sway you.

I get the sense that a lot of people are still quietly watching here, so I wanted to share this excerpt from a 2017 Vulture article that came out after Nicole came forward. This is my friend Ryan, who I met through the Brand New Street Team. He was trying to corroborate my story at the time. For anyone still questioning whether I made this up, the evidence is there.

Thought I'd post this here. Further proof that I reached out to a restorative justice facilitation team in Nashville in 2021 to initiate a process with Jesse that went nowhere.

probably stupid but ive been thinking about bn and their relationship with the press and how it makes a LOT more sense that they were cryptic and unreachable given how badly Jesse wanted to keep all of his teenage relationships a secret it's almost like it's a design not a bug
