I realize I am thread bombing here, but I listened to this album* again today, and I can safely say at this point it is my second favorite thing he's ever done, after only Dying Star. It could end up being my favorite but it's a little to early still to tell.

That I disagree with people’s assertions that Biden is solely responsible for it/think they’re factually wrong for saying as much, that I think there are other life/death policy decisions that will be made by the next president pertaining to a ton of other issues where it would be far better for the policies that I support if Biden were president and not Trump and thus don’t feel okay about letting Biden’s failures on one policy meaning I can just forget about all the rest for the next 4 years, that I think voting is extremely important in a representative democracy and that parties have been conditioned over time to chase after frequent/likely voters as they’re seen as more dependendable, so I worry about how that will orient future pols/campaigns and which voters they will try court if young people drop out of the electorate, etc etc etc. Most all of these things I’ve expressed pretty explicitly too, btw. It’s not like I’ve been cryptically saying “vote for Biden” and providing no argument or context as to why lol. So either you’re choosing not to read those things, which is fine but then don’t run your mouth about someone’s motives for their opinion if you’re not going to bother reading them, or you’re just trying to score dunk points for lefty cred by being a troll, in which case…*refers back to Rock eye roll gif*

the post was framing things as if trump is just some unpredictable wild card that we can't possibly know what he will or won't do, not the guy who moved the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

donald trump was already president for four years. acting like we don't know whether he would be better or worse than Biden is very silly.

Ruston performed a new song "Baby" from his upcoming new album in Brooklyn. No mention of a release date or title but it sounded like he has already written a batch of new tunes. He described "The Weakness" as an experiment and now he is assembling the OG Team from the first 2 records including his dad Tim to create the new album. It will still be a new sound but expect more of his "bread and butter" as per his words. I'm someone who loves The Weakness and it's what got me into Ruston, I hope he doesn't abandon that sound entirely. I would like a meeting of the 2. We shall see...

I really hope he doesn't abandon the Weakness sound entirely. Add "The Watcher", "Heaven Made The Darkness", & "Nothing Out There" to the tracklist and this album is up there with the best stuff he's ever done. It feels very much to me like a spiritual successor to Dying Star, much moreso than Shape & Destroy.

Tired of people falling for Andrew Tate bait. Every other week I see him tweet “I don’t sleep with vaccinated women” and then someone quotes him to dunk on it like it’s his very first time saying it. We can just let him fade away!

All she had to do was tweak the phrasing to use “mouths” instead of “mouth” (like “as she mouths” or something) and all this could have been avoided haha

It's hard to describe, but you can hear when a comma is there in a song and when it's not, and I also don't hear one on that line!

I just went back and listened to the song with the lyrics on - I can see how they are written, but she absolutely says it so it sounds like he really dirty way. Not sounds like, I mean she says it that way. That was an important comma! and such a weird one to skip vocally! reminds me of Blinded By The Light, where I know the lyric is supposed to be "revved up like a deuce" but he 1000% sings "revved up like a douche".

I wasn't joking. I mean, I was teasing Craig about his cousin and that fact that still blows my mind, but the Taylor Swift lyric thing I was being serious about. I'll have to go back and listen to the song.

I'm not sure if you're joking, but the lyric is actually, "mouth, 'Fuck you, forever' " but the way she sings it definitely makes it sound like the former. EDIT: Couldn't initially remember the name of that one, but it's Mad Woman

  29. Brother Beck liked Craig Manning's post in the thread Album Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department (April 19, 2024).

This is all true, but she still could've workshopped that lyric a little bit. It reminds me of the "mouthfuck you forever" lyric from "mad woman." It is both clear what she is actually saying/trying to say and a double-take moment that takes you out of the song. Second draft that shit, Taylor!

Craig, hold on - Taylor Swift has a lyric where she says "mouthfuck you forever" ?!?!????!? this is crazier than when you just casually dropped the fact that your cousin co-wrote some of the biggest songs in recent years with Post Malone on us

Yeah it's a song about hating the real world and that section is to point out how the past is intrinsically tied to awful things and shouldn't be romanticised in favour of the current moment.

this is true - I only pointed that line out because on my first listen thru it stuck me as a little weird and I had to kinda go back and listen to what she was saying I do think I was zoning out a little bit after 22 songs though

The problem with half the internet hyper focusing on the one line of the 1830s bit is they miss the actual message which is glaringly obvious if they use a singular ounce of thought and listened for 7 more seconds. I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists And getting married off for the highest bid Everyone would look down 'cause it wasn't fun now Seems like it was never even fun back then Nostalgia is a mind's trick If I'd been there, I'd hate it it was freezing in the palace Is it clunky and corny a bit? Absolutely, but have you listened to Taylor?

Plus, right after the smoking, eating chocolate, Charlie Puth thing she talks about scratching the guy's head like a tattooed golden retriever. I actually really like the sorta silly weird lyrics playing in contrast to the actual heartbreak and torment the song is about.
