    there’s two different negative feedback loops going on about this game that sometimes overlap. one is the pronoun thing, the other is people mad you can’t steal or kill every NPC or romance anybody, but again these have never been staples in obsidian games and Josh sawyer didn’t even want to do romances in pillars but he had to because kickstarter backers expected it

    I’ve had two friends, that don’t really know each other, both tell me within hours of each other that their algorithm on FB and IG respectively are pushing negative posts about Avowed after I’ve talked to them about it the other day via text. The last part isn’t shocking, but why is there some army going against this game? Lol

    I haven't begun Avowed yet. I'm in the middle of a Deadfire playthrough. Plus, I've been putting a ton of time into Elite Dangerous lately, so I don't have the time to start a new game.

    I’m running grimoire/wand as set 1 and sword/shield as set 2, I carry 3-4 different grimoires around for different move sets but usually stick to one or two. just make sure you upgrade your weapons as much as you can. I was also behind the power curve in the first zone and absolutely leap frogged over it in the second zone after spending an hour exploring

    yea, there are a few songs I only noticed were missing when I’ve gone back and played the originals, but they did such a good job with the new tracks that nothing about the updated soundtrack feels incomplete.

    I was having a slightly difficult time on one particular fight last night. Then realized some food gives you stat buffs and I was able to pass a dialogue check and skip the fight lol. But yeah it’s hard to remember to take full advantage of all of your tools, from companions to abilities to food buffs etc. it can get chaotic especially in the second zone when fights involve 5-6 mobs continuously respawning

    for the sake of the victims I really hope they were just lying but when people throw money around to silence victims it’s hard to tell! regardless it’s was a slight jab, not serious just an easy opportunity I couldn’t pass up lol. on topic pillars 1 has the best lore and world building in any game I’ve played and I think avowed very much feels like apart of the same world when it comes to tone and storytelling. I can see why some people unfamiliar think it’s one big lore/exposition dump when you’re chatting up NPC’s but I love it

    New Vegas was such a mistake for obsidian. At least in terms for the unrealistic expectations it has placed upon their games. The only reason that game plays the way it does is because they had to use bethesdas framework for the world. Every other obsidian game since is a tight focused no frills RPG experience (besides deadfire… too many frills). They’re a triple A studio making games with a double A scope and it’s what the industry needs more of. In the last decade they’ve launched pillars, tyranny, pillars 2, outer worlds, grounded, Pentiment, and now avowed and later this year outer worlds 2. how are Xbox’s other acquisitions doing? what is their rate of releases looking like? Obsidian is the best purchase they’ve made and will continue to be for a long time.

    I’m seeing a lot of people being mad at Avowed not being like “a real AAA game” and saying that it should be cheaper etc. I think that so many gamers seem to think something like Avowed shouldn’t qualify is AAA is one of the main reasons why the industry - especially on the AAA level - is in such deep shit.
