Revisiting Bodies and this album is incredible. Hunter’s bass lines…wow. This is one of those albums you put on and just vibe out to. So good. Fun fact: it’s their second shortest album!

I remember going to one of my local shops and picking up STS on CD (for $5.99!) at a midnight opening on release day. Driving back to my dorm listening to it for the first time is to this day my most memorable new music moment. Pretty sure I was going about 10 mph the whole way, but I didn't even care because I was so lost in the music.

I really liked Bodies. Not up to Burials level, but I like it more than Blood.

Searched the forum cause I coulda swore I said this during a different album cycle … but I’ve always liked AFI the way most people liked MCR. They were my emo-goth gateway band. Like their whole catalog. New album is very new wave 80’s tinged. Enjoying the hell out of.

One of the issues I have with Blood as an album is that the vinyl has incorrect sequencing, so my brain is always getting confused about what comes next since I listen in multiple formats. The Wind That Carries Me Away is one of my favorite closers they've done.

People who haven't checked out pre-Black Sails AFI oughta give Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes a spin, imo it holds up pretty well and there's some pretty great standout tracks.

AFI has been my favorite band for 25 years. I remember how shocking it was to hear Girls Not Grey for the first time, and how each album that followed continued to surprise me. I became a fan because of Art of Drowning and Black Sails, but I’m glad they've kept changing things up all this time instead of continuing to play the same things. I know not everyone agrees, but I think their longevity can be at least somewhat attributed to that desire not to repeat themselves and to keep making the art they want to make, rather than that which some people want them to make. That said, I'm absolutely ecstatic that I can sit here 2 1/2 decades later and still be moved by their music in the same way a much younger version of me once was.

I love it so much! I'm glad they strive for constant reinvention, because if I'm honest I don't want to hear artists approaching/in their 50s trying to recreate something they did in their 20s.

I know people are just excited about new music, but waiting an extra couple days isn't going to hurt anyone. The band is in no way obligated to continue sharing its art with us, so the least we can do is honor their intended timeline.
