December is where I got introduced to the band & that’s such a special record for. Illuminate took it a step further. Run Wild was the last time he released anything I liked though. Even if it wasn’t the original band, I think Lydia would benefit from being somewhat of a band again instead of Leighton just vibing at a computer.

I feel like if this was a b-side like, "alternate" version released with the original album, it wouldn't be as poorly received. Not saying it would be particularly loved, but I think it would just be another forgettable "this is fine" acoustic type track that a lot of bands were putting out back then. Lydia's reputation has just changed so much, and this being a re-imagining of arguably the most loved Lydia record makes it a hard sell. So I get why people don't fuck with this, I just don't personally find it particularly offensive.

Like this a surprising amount. Didnt really get into Colors II and this isnt the style I usually come to them for, but they pulled it off well. Really fun song.

I saw them for the Parallax II tour in 2023 at a 1200 (ish) cap venue and I'd say it was 80% full. They were fantastic. I think they have a very dedicated fan base as they're so unique. I've constantly looked for bands that sound like them, and while some bands scratch the itch of certain parts, nothing quite like BTBAM as a whole. I imagine if it's a NON album run without a nostalgia ascept they could do a decent sized run of 500-1000 cap venues. They sit at around 150-200k plays monthly on spotify which is comparable to a lot of niche genre heavy bands so I'd imagine they do alright but never great.

Maaaaaaan I am so skeptical about this new Illuminate release. I still love Leighton’s voice and want to support him, but the vibe is just not what I’m looking for from Lydia. I’ll absolutely be listening to it all when it drops and hope I change my mind, but I really miss the old guitar work.
