Yeah that show last night was awesome. All 3 bands were great and the MG set was a ton of fun

Here's hoping! Hope yours goes off without a hitch despite all the outside factors! This is about where we're at. But what we're finding is that some of the stuff we want to do is making it more complicated and harder on us. Haha. Fortunately, my partner is big on having "craft" projects so she's taking on a lot of the decoration stuff on her own.

Just saw we have a thread here for this. I'm in the throes of planning our wedding for Memorial Day weekend next year. So much left to do and my fiancee is feeling it. Her parents are helping us with the cost, which is something we're super grateful for, but now we have that kind of dynamic where their input holds weight too. Tensions were high last night. I am stepping up my game on contributing more. It's just one thing after the next!

Yes, next year! hahaha There is definitely a level of just wanting to get it over with. But trying to enjoy the process and have fun with the things that really matter to us! Your ceremony and reception area look awesome! When's the date?

Neat thread idea - and congratulations! My fiancee and I are getting married next year on June 20th. And what started as a simple dinner with a few key family members kinda spiraled out of control the more we thought about what we actually wanted. Venue: A place called Sacco Bowl Haven here in Boston. It's a flatbread pizza restaurant with bowling. The vibe is obviously pretty relaxed and we'll be doing the ceremony on the bowling lanes. No story here. We just both enjoy bowling and thought it was a fun spot. Also nice that they handle the catering, the bar, and we can do both the ceremony and the reception in one spot. Guests: We're trying to keep it to 120 or lower. No wedding party and no speeches. No kids except for the ring bearer (and his brother who is only going to be 1-1/2) and the flower girl. Music/Entertainment: We're doing our own Spotify playlist to keep things targeted. Neither of us are big dancers so... We'll have a dance floor but part of what appealed to us about the venue is that it's open bowl after the ceremony! So it'll keep people busy that don't like to dance. Also doing a themed "all covers" cocktail hour that should be pretty fun. Food: We have to sort that out but the venue handles the catering. We get our pick of 2 salads, 4 appetizers, and 4 types of pizza. Open bar with a few signature cocktails that we'll be "designing" ourselves. Decor: My partner's got the vision here. Lots of brightly colored flowers. My contribution is going to be a faux-merch table with some 'parody' shirts behind it that we're designing with references to us. It's gonna be crazy silly and I'm stoked on doing it. OH! And lifesize cardboard cut-outs of our cats will be behind the bar. Haha.

Our ceremony is at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room. It's pretty insane for only $700. There's no amplified music though so we hired a cellist. Currently trying to figure out what song I want her to play as I walk in. I'm Thinking Rainbow Connection as it's on her list and means a lot to me. Then our reception is right down the street at a place called the Unitarian Society, but it's basically an old mission-style church. [IMG] We got a DJ, but also got [spoiler] to agree to play on the small caveat that he doesn't get an offer for a tour that can actually pay him well. We're also having tacos because they are so much cheaper than catering and everyone loves tacos. We really didn't want a boring traditional catered meal.

That’s awesome. My wife and I tried having our wedding on NYE, but the venue she had her heart set on wouldn’t be open that day, so we had to settle on 12/30 instead

Congratulations! My wife and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this NYE. We (mainly my wife) planned our wedding in like, six weeks. We got engaged on October 1, 2015 and we are NOT the traditional type for a lot of stuff. A plain wedding just didn't sound interesting to us. We visited and met with some of the typical wedding venues around town and it just didn't move us. One day, I came home from work shortly after getting engaged and she was like 'what do you think about getting married on New Year's Eve?' and I was all like, 'do you really want to wait another 14 months to get married' and she replied 'No, this New Year's Eve' and I was in. We ended up booking a bar that held 120 people on New Year's Eve from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. They catered (pasta and roast beef, potatoes...maybe? Honestly don't even remember the food). We invited our families and closest friends. Obviously, giving people only six weeks notice - especially during the holiday season - quite a few invitees turned us down. Didn't bother us as it was completely understandable. But all my groomsmen - and her bridesmaids - and our close friends & family were there - which is what mattered most to us. We just really wanted to have a party. Nothing fancy. It was in a bar in an area where we met and hung out religiously in for the first few years of our relationship. We did everything at the bar - ceremony and reception. Some random woman married us. she was a friend of a friend. DJ was a friend of a friend. Photographer was a family friend. I'm a die-hard Cavs fan, and my wife surprised me with inviting the Cavs in-game announcer to show up and announce our bridal party. That was pretty sweet. Advice: Don't get wrapped up in all the wedding traditions. Do what YOU (and your wife) want to do. it's YOUR wedding. And after a few months, you and others won't remember a lot of the small stuff that you spent hours/days/weeks discussing and/or planning. Best of luck!

Scheduled cake tasting for next Saturday. We pretty much already know what we want, but we're not doing a lot of the traditional wedding activities so this was one we just wanted to do to treat ourselves.

Just celebrated my second wedding anniversary with my wife on 7/7 so the day/planning has been on our mind. Venue: Revolution Brewing. We initially bonded over craft beer so a brewery was a no-brainer. We worked with an in-house planner on coordination and decorating tips since they knew the space and capabilities well. Fake flowers from the dollar store and Michael’s FTW! Food: Revolution had in-house catering and it was incredible. Did a tasting weeks before so we could narrow things down. We each had a paper menu and independently rated them 1-100. The collectively top-rated items were chosen for the big day. Didn’t want traditional cake, so we did cupcakes for all the guests. Music/Entertainment: We created Spotify playlists for all key moments (Pre-Ceremony/Guest Arrival, Processionals, Bride Entrance, Cocktail Hour, Dinner, Special Dances, Dancing) and hired a DJ company who manned our MacBook and set up a mic and speakers. Guests: Kept attendance kid-free unless they were family or part of the wedding party. Could not recommend that more.

Currently freaking out about all the minutia involved in planning this damn thing. Discuss what you did for your wedding. What you are planning for you upcoming wedding. What your dream wedding looks like once you find that someone. Music, guests, entertainment, food, venue, etc.

All that talk about Thursday and album plays... This has to be a tease for some album play shows or a vinyl re-issue, right? [MEDIA]
