I was going to say, until recently, the only time I can ever remember seeing this was when Green Day played the same HOB here in a major underplay. It makes sense for underplays and the like but the "younger artist at a standard HOB" show thing has happened twice recently and it got me thinking if it was becoming more of a trend. And I'm getting the sense that it is. Yeah, this jives with what I was theorizing. And I mean... I definitely remember getting to shows early and wanting to be the first in line when I was in high school or whatever. But that was--like you said--an hour or so before doors. Not all day. That just seems like a silly waste of time and I've never understood the value in that.

I've seen that for a few arenas/stadiums but never for venues that are within city limits. In NYC, we have people already sleeping on the streets every night so I suppose you can't disallow camping (shrug).

Def seen it for arenas/arena acts (Taylor and Billie Eilish were big ones), but usually unless it's someone huge doing a major downplay or rabid fanbase I wouldn't really expect anyone camping out the day+ before the show at a HOB type venue.

Had the same experience at the Brooklyn Paramount! When I went to go see Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, The Decemberists, Jack White, etc. there was NO line. Going to see Charli XCX, Inhaler and FLO....stood in a 30 min line.

Sleep Token at red rocks had a 5am line for like 7pm doors and when I got there at 6 (which I'd done before for red rocks), it was quite a line and we ended up being pretty far back, which is fine for that venue though. I also live next door to a concert venue and i can 100% tell if it's a gen z show if people are lining up early in the the day, and if hours before showtime, the line wraps my street. Sold out shows that have a fan base in their 30's? There's never a line. I also don't think that young people realize that with general admission in a concert hall, just because you get in first, you're not going to remain first. People will come in late, crowds will merge, you will have to fight hard to save your place in a wide open concert floor. It's not like a festival where you can hug the railing. Also, for a good venue, you can see anywhere, the sound is better further back etc. It's a habit I've never understood. EDIT - The extreme earliness i mean, like hours before doors. As a teenager we'd always be on time, MAYBE an hour early.

HOB is the only spot I've seen it in around here... Which is partially why I asked! This is for Gigi Perez and the show is mostly all sold out (still a few balcony). I'm guessing it has more to do with the veracity of the fanbase more than the overall "size" of the artist.

Has anybody else's local venues started posting "camping policies" the day ahead of certain shows? I've seen this a few times recently for the Boston HOB. It's one of those things I just never think about but... Apparently it's a problem?

I know it’s barely October and we haven’t made it to Halloween, but I am particularly hyped for the holidays this year

Great piece, man. Didn’t expect a Yellowcard album review in 2025 to hit so close to home or bring this kind of comfort to a guy entering his 40s

The Movielife, Destroy Boys, Drain / Straylight Run, Yellowcard, Knocked Loose, the Gaslight Anthem, Bad Religion, the Offspring, Taking Back Sunday, Weezer, Blink-182 Some pretty annoying conflicts in the mix though with Bad Religion/SYG and Blink/Jack's Mannequin/LetLive

If somebody did gangbusters with a bass solo in the last round, I think it would be fair play to pick a self-referential song if it's a banger enough choice. Related: I'm real curious to know what song this might be!

This is how I feel about both them and Title Fight. They could definitely be a sub-headliner and could probably close Radical/Rise or Rebel. It would depend on who all else is playing, etc. The Sphere dates are in early May. So, FWIW, I don't think that rules them out completely for Riot though it does make them significantly less likely (or anything else for 2026, really, TBH). If they keep themselves scarce it'll keep interest and demand up over multiple years.

A MOBO reunion would be a huge deal, but they def aren’t headliner level. I could see them being a sub at most. Or maybe closing out a side stage

I put something in just to make sure I have a submission but might switch. To be sure, a band calling back to its own song would count, right?

Glad y’all liked it! The album as a whole is pretty cool and the other standouts are probably “Hot Mess”, “N. Howard Street” and “Late Nights, Early Mornings”.
