I had the opportunity to photograph the 311 and Dirty Heads concert in Columbia, MD. You’ll find the gallery as well as my thoughts on the tour below.

Steamy summer nights just aren’t complete without some reggae-infused tunes and 311 and Dirty Heads deliver just that on their co-headlining tour that came through Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD recently.

The show was supported by Bikini Trill, Dreamers, and The Interrupters (who felt like local favorites despite their LA roots). While the openers played from a wider collection of genres–indie surf to pop to ska–the main acts consistently delivered the Saturday night summer vibes.

Dirty Heads played an impressive set including fan favorites “My Sweet Summer,” “Lay Me Down, “Medusa,” and “That’s All I Need” before wrapping it up with “Vacation.”

311 continued to bring the reggae vibes as the sun went down. The quintet played a lot from their back catalog as well as a few newer tunes. The bounced from “All Mixed Up” to “Come Original” to “Applied Science” and finished with “Down.”

The 311/Dirty Heads Tour is what concert goers need, especially if they can’t get away for their own “Vacation.”
