    Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries, has passed away. She was 46.


    The band’s publicist confirmed O’Riordan’s death in a brief statement, “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session.”

    I have vivid memories of sunny, summer days between the ages of 4 and 6 hearing her voice on the radio while driving with my family to the beach.

    I will miss her and am sad I did not see them on their reunion tour, having been too young to appreciate her work when they were at their biggest.

    Terrrible news. For a few years The Cranberries were my favorite band with so many great songs and unbelievable voice of Dolores. It is devastated that she died so young. Feel terribly sorry for her family (especially kids), friends, bandmates and fans all around the world

    I’m devestated by this. The Cranberries were the first band I ever truly loved, the band that sparked my passion for music, and Dolores was such a transcendent talent and a great role model for a young girl growing up. I’d really enjoyed her recent solo work and was looking forward to more music. How terrible for her family and friends. 46 is too young.

    Have to echo the sentiment that this was a really unique band, and her vocals were the biggest reason for that. RIP.
