  7. Record Of The Year vs Song Of The Year - Difference and Comparison | Diffen
The key difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year awards at the Grammys is that the Song of the Year award is for the songwriter who composed the song. Unlike the Record of the Year, which is awarded to the entire team involved in producing the song, Song of the Year is for an individual contributor - the songwriter - and is awarded for the lyrical beauty of the song.

i hope Leonard takes Rock Performance. "You Want it Darker" was haunting before he passed, and now it's in a league of it's own.

It's A Secret To Everyone Prestigious

seeing that majority black Album+Record+Song of the Year nominations makes me happy, honestly wishing i saw that in the Academy Awards noms more often tbh
torn whether i'd pick Melodrama or DAMN. as AOTY though. disappointed After Laughter and Big Fish Theory got no love though.
and i thought for sure St Vincent would get at least ONE nom!

It's going to be Jay-Z. I saw someone on Twitter say he was going to get the Time out of Mind lifetime achievement award win, and I think that's probably true.

The rap categories are really competitive this year. Literally everyone else nominated deserves the rap album award more than Jay, like I’m a fan, but Vince should’ve taken that nom. Same is true for the album category, only album I’d be more disappointed winning than Jay would be Bruno’s.

I’m especially pleased to see SZA, Rapsody, and Tyler get Grammy nods but I honestly don’t think that would’ve happened before the Grammys were forced to own up to excluding black artists.

All that to say (and I say this every year), the Grammys suck just like every dumb award show but I get unreasonably invested cause I love ranking shit
