Not into any of the new songs apart from One Foot so far.

Maturing/evolving is one thing, but I feel like they're halfway to a completely different band based on these songs. Not bad, just haven't resonated with me like anything off their first two.

I agree 100% with this. The songs aren't bad, but just sound super refined and radio friendly compared to their old songs.

"Shut Up and Dance" obviously was a huge hit, but doesn't sound like it was fabricated for the radio. These songs do.

Like you said, not bad, but I'm not connecting with them either.

That song was tailor-made for the radio. Haha.

This one is alright. I've kinda liked two of them so far.

True it was made for the radio in that it was destined to be a hit, but these sound more LIKE the radio maybe is the distinction.

That's exactly what I was trying to say.

I read an interview with Nick when Talking is Hard came out and he said after they wrote it and played it live, they knew it'd be a hit. But it wasn't like their intention was to write some huge radio hit. Just so happened, they did.

  10. Radio was always the destination for "Shut Up"

  11. I've spoken to people that worked on that album about how it was definitely their intention to write a huge radio hit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's the song written with Captain Cuts. That's the team for the radio single.

    (They co-wrote "One Foot" too.)
