Arcade Fire have announced their dress code for their upcoming Brooklyn record release show. You can read the message sent out to attendees below.

I would definitely not be “hip and trendy” enough.

    PHONE-FREE VIEWING EXPERIENCE:
No cellphones, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at this show. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. Guests maintain possession of their phones throughout the night, and if needed, may access their phones at designated Yondr unlocking stations in the lobby.
    WHAT TO WEAR:
Our dress code is HIP & TRENDY as if you are going to a concert or night out with friends! The event is standing-room-only so please plan accordingly. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR shorts, large logos, flip flops, tank tops, crop tops, baseball hats, solid white or red clothing. We reserve the right to deny entry to anyone dressed inappropriately.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    6:30pm: 1iota Check-in Opens
    7:45pm: 1iota Check-in Closes
    8:30pm – 9:00pm: Everything Now Live

Pardon my foul language but I just have to ask: what is this cock nonsense? Are they secretly pranking everyone.

If I recall, this is typical for them. I remember similar nonsense about a dress code for their arena tour a few years back.

If they're recording the show for release, this would make sense. Otherwise probably just a publicity stunt.

this is starting to get awkward haha. The band had no idea about this dress code, someone literally took it upon themselves to come up with it assuming it was a cool idea.

I mean, the show is in Brooklyn. I'll be shocked to see a crowd that isn't mostly "hip and trendy".

I think a forced "dress code" is kinda lame. That being said, it's kinda fun to get a little spiffed up with my lady and go to an event. Makes it a little more special!
