I got roped into a death penalty argument on Twitter and it just kills me every time someone advocates for state sanctioned murder. it’s insane. the most extreme heinous crime you can think of won’t convince me the state should be executing people. the easiest argument is that the legal system doesn’t always get it right and I don’t see how anyone could stomach the fact that innocent people are put to death under the death penalty. I mean it’s bad enough the state does it in war which is also like not something I think should happen but the death penalty is just such a cold calculated way to take a human life

As a recovering JRE listener, covid absolutely broke this guy's brain. He was a knuckle-dragging neanderthal before the pandemic, and it got so much worse starting around 2020. He ran full-throttle with the antivax/mask/lockdown stuff and made it a sticking point to where he'd bitch about the topic for 20 minutes on every episode and bring on guests who would also bitch about it. or worse, he'd have actual knowledgeable guests like one of the world's foremost immunologists on to talk about it but then he'd say shit like 'if you get in the sauna it will melt covid away.' it's like, go back to Fear Factor dude. it's schtick is tiresome

  15. Zilla liked sleon.518's post in the thread Album Paramore - This Is Why (February 10, 2023).

Just caught Paramore in Stockholm seven hours ago, and I'm happy to report they put on a great show. They broke out their cover of Burning Down the House which was such a fun vibe. They're also doing a secret song for every set (akin to the performer they are opening for) and I got Running Out of Time. Not a bad song by any means but when other surprise songs have been Brick by Boring Brick and Pool, I was kind of wishing it would be something that I hadn't seen before. The crowd was kind of boring which was partially to be expected but I didn't expect it to be as unresponsive as they were. I was GA and felt like I was one of the only ones in my area who got properly excited. Good time though. Very happy to call Paramore the first band I've seen overseas!

The living alone during the pandemic definitely took a toll. I have always said that I am perfectly adept at being alone and totally by myself, but the problem is when I go into what I call "hermit mode" it is very easy to snap into, but it is extremely hard for me to snap of. I am still finding it hard get out and do stuff and socialize as much as I did pre-covid. I kind of cut myself off from everything, and a lot of relationships I had pre-covid have waned.

it was posted a page or two back but this 100 games that taught me game design video is brilliant. I eat up top ten ______ videos like slop and most of them are just redundant and the same games every time. while this list has a lot of familiar titles the explanation behind the reason it’s included in a list about game design is what makes it so cool, and there are some really interesting games on here that aren’t necessarily the norm in these videos. plants vs zombies gets a nod. other games I’ve never even heard of. others I completely forgot existed. definitely check this one out if you like this kind of content

Got back from my vacation in Utah, cool beautiful state. I remember there was a discussion here once about the best mid-sized cities. I’d think Salt Lake City deserves to be mentioned. Really enjoyed the few days I stayed there, the impression I got was a clean, easy to navigate, not too congested city. I liked the vibes downtown, was neat to explore. And while I didn’t use it, the public transit system seemed like it was pretty good and accessible. Easy to see stunning views of the mountains without even having to leave the city. Really nice airport too. Another side note on Utah is I actually liked their strict alcohol regulations. State-run liquor stores, limiting the alcohol content allowed in mixed drinks, lowest BAC legal limit in the country, requiring people to order food with alcohol at restaurants. I actually saw the cashier deny someone purchasing alcohol at the liquor store because they said it was the guys third time in the store that day.
