I have seen a lot of love for Zach Bryan around these parts and on my social media feeds lately, and a lot of those people have said things along the lines of "I don't normally listen to this type of music, but..." So this week, we're going to spend some time with a band whose catalog is essentially Zach's urtext. On the last Zach Bryan album, on a song called "East Side of Sorrow," there's a line about how "Turnpike's back together and they're writin' songs." It's a reference to Turnpike Troubadours, a country band from Zach's home state of Oklahoma, and for my money, one of the best bands of the 21st century, in any genre. Turnpike Troubadours took a lengthy hiatus between 2017 and 2023, while the lead singer and chief songwriter Evan Felker went to rehab for alcoholism. But they came back last year, dropping their latest album, A Cat in the Rain, the same day that Zach Bryan's latest came out. You can't go wrong with that album, or frankly with any of the Turnpike albums, but I picked an older one: 2010's Diamonds & Gasoline, which has a lot of that same boisterous, barnstorming feel that Zach taps into on his rockers, and a lot of the same layered, nuanced storytelling you get on Zach Bryan ballads. I really can't imagine liking those Zach Bryan albums and not liking this, so I hope y'all dig it! [MEDIA] [MEDIA]

Okay I’m not the only one! Band is incredible, been super in to them lately so seeing something new today was a nice surprise. Every time they would come up on my shuffle I’d be like damn this is epic. Finally dove in all the way. Black metal is not my forte but however these guys are doing it has my attention.

ended up doing a bunch of research on earbuds from like $100 to $300 and ended up finding the Jabra 8s as the best value for my money ($200). Seem to be rated pretty high in terms of sound quality and anc which is a new feature for me. They also have a crazy high ip68 rating which is even better than the more expensive sports buds I looked at, even jabras top of the line earbuds dont match that. My jaybirds were basically waterproof with an ipX7 rating so in theory these new ones should hold up even better over time since they're rated for dust too. We will see though. It'll all come down to the fit once they're in hand.
