I actually really like The Greatest, interesting that it's not too popular here. The Diner is the only song here I don't enjoy, that whole aesthetic has really worn off me

Anyway, the band has been putting straightforward alt rock songs with huge hooks on their albums since at least IKS so anyone who is pretending like that’s never been a huge part of their sound and following is just telling on themselves

My thoughts: I HOWLED at Liz going back for the plank to help Kenzie win. Maria looked soooo pissed, she knew she was gone from that moment. Liz continues to be delusional yet providing entertainment in tiny bursts, she really thought she was the biggest threat lol. I seriously thought Kenzie wasn't gonna be able to make fire and I got scared for a second. I'm totally surprised just as much as Charlie was that Maria didn't vote for him, god hr looked like he was still in shock and processing losing the entire after-show. I honestly felt it was a tossup. They both deserve to win for different reasons I feel. Charlie was more methodical, he played the game but Kenzie was also involved and am extreme extreme social butterfly, she had more connections with people and I'm sure they played a part with the jury. All in all, messy season, glad it's over. Sure there were moments, like Venus' quips, Q's and Liz:s del

If you need more reason to be confused by Liz, let me present this [MEDIA] Ah yes, the ole “telling them I’m a millionaire will minimize my threat level” strategy. Her threat level was minimized because she did nothing of note but scream at someone for Applebee’s.

Yeah Maria made three huge WTF choices in the last few episodes that tanked her social and strategic game, and made her very unlikeable. I think Kenzie and Charlie equally deserved it for different reasons and I definitely felt bad for Charlie, a lot to process for sure, especially knowing Maria could have at least got him the tie

Maria did a villain arc speedrun in the last three episodes. Overall Kenzie is a deserving winner but the aftershow was rough. Charlie was clearly still processing everything.

Kenzie was an okay winner imo but a distant third best option going into the finale. Her own game looked much better pre-merge imo (She looked like the only Yanu member who was even remotely competent to have a chance). She actually had to admit that she was pulled into votes post-merge at final tribal, and iirc was left out of the Tiffany blindside after she couldn’t pull that blindside together herself. She whiffed on what was really her only attempt at a big move. I also don’t like how she treated Jess (and allowed her to be treated by the other members of Yanu) when she herself was quite literally not even a factor in those early challenges because her own performance was pathetic. I have no way of knowing this but I also hated her sitting there and saying she’s a business owner who started a business so other people could work and that she makes no money. Yeah, okay.

chalking peoples' struggles up to 'vibes' or just like being fooled by a negative press cycle is insanely dismissive which, okay fine I guess, if you just want to be a prick, but doing that and then asking for a vote - or worse, acting like you are owed a vote! - is weird and not a good strategy

I’m not talkin about theory though. I think most people - including teachers! (Source: married to one) - recognize or at least can feel that their money doesn’t go as far as it used to, and that their careers get them less relative to what people in those same careers could accomplish in decades past. My granddad was making $31 an hour as a mechanic at an auto plant in Dayton OH in the late 90s before he retired. That company isn’t there anymore, and the (post-NAFTA, non-Union) jobs now in that plant pay far less than that 30 years later. Meanwhile, good homes in that area are way more expensive than they were in the 90s. That’s a fact that makes people feel bad about the state of the economy, regardless of what metrics like inflation/GDP/unemployment or people’s own tenuous grasp thereof indicate!
